Coastal Cleanup Day 2022
The California Coastal Commission is hosting the 38th Annual California Coastal Cleanup Day on September 17th, 2022 from 9am to noon! On this day, people across the state come together – coastal and inland – to preserve our waterways by removing trash.
During Coastal Cleanup 2020, 19,730 volunteers across California collected 182,767 pounds of trash in one month*! This is a great opportunity to clean up your local neighborhood, as each piece of litter removed means less trash reaching our local waterways and eventually the ocean.
Here are some ways you can participate in this year’s Coastal Cleanup Day right here in Lincoln:
- Join community champion Mona Bass, founder of Lincoln’s Adopt-A-Creek Program to participate in local clean-ups. Mona leads clean-ups every Wednesday from 8am-10am. You can email Mona to get involved (mona-bass@sbcglobal.net)!
- Follow the self-guided cleanup tips in the next section to pick up trash in your own neighborhood! You can download the CleanSwell App to record the trash you collect and share the data with volunteers from around the world.
*Note: Data is not yet available for Coastal Cleanup 2021.
Tips for Self-Guided Cleanups
